Job Responsibilities
- Collect and rinse soiled dishware from tubs, clearing debris and stacking items for automated washing.
- Load dish racks onto conveyor belts following machine operation guidelines and manage the dishwashing machine controls accordingly.
- Refill dishwashing chemical dispensers and adjust detergent outputs to maintain proper functioning.
- Unload, inspect, and organize cleaned dishes into designated carts and shelves for kitchen and restaurant use.
- Hand-scrub pots, pans, and kitchen equipment unsuitable for machine washing using detergents and special cleaning agents, then dry and store them correctly.
- Polish silver, stainless steel, and pewter dining utensils to ensure a clean, appealing presentation.
- Maintain dishwashing equipment by following manufacturer instructions to ensure longevity, prevent breakdowns, and comply with health regulations.
- Keep the dish room well-organized and sanitary by sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, and cleaning surfaces regularly.
- Mop kitchen floors and clean work surfaces such as walls, ceilings, hoods, vents, and ovens as scheduled.
- Manage kitchen trash by collecting and disposing of garbage appropriately.
- Maintain cleanliness of loading dock and kitchen entrance areas for employee and vendor safety.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- No formal education or prior experience is required.
- Basic understanding of dishwashing processes is necessary.
- Visual ability to observe fine details at arm’s length to read meters and controls.
- Physical ability to bend, squat, crouch, crawl, reach above head level, and handle items up to 50 lbs, including pushing and pulling of up to 75% of the shift.
- Capable of standing and walking for extended periods and moving within a 300-foot area.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Ability to multitask and maintain attention in a busy, noisy environment.
- Careful handling of fragile items to minimize breakage.
Work Environment
Predominantly indoor setting with prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and carrying required throughout the shift. Occasional exposure to freezer temperatures around -10 degrees Fahrenheit.
