Role Overview
The General Utility / Dishwasher will play an essential role in maintaining cleanliness and order in kitchen areas, equipment, dishware, and utensils to ensure a sanitary environment. Alongside dishwashing duties, this position supports food preparation efforts and cross-trains across various kitchen roles as part of the broader Kitchen Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrape and pre-rinse food from dishes, then load them into the dishwasher (approx. 50% of duties).
- Wash pots, pans, and trays manually or using dishwashing machines (15%).
- Carry out assigned food preparation tasks (10%).
- Dispose of trash and garbage in designated dumpster areas (10%).
- Clean work tables, walls, refrigeration units, cooking appliances, and floors (5%).
- Sanitize garbage cans and trash receptacles (5%).
- Assemble, maintain, and dismantle the dishwashing machine as needed (5%).
Qualifications and Expectations
- Genuine willingness to care for others, grow professionally, and embrace learning opportunities.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude.
- Capable of transporting cases weighing up to 50 pounds, up to 20 times daily.
- Able to handle placing plates, utensils, pans, and cases on shelves at various heights.
- Comfortable working predominantly indoors (90%) with occasional outdoor exposure (10%).
- Adapted to work in environments that may be hot and humid.
- Ability to respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies to ensure safety.
Physical Requirements
Successful candidates must be able to move throughout the restaurant and interact with guests, handle items up to 5 pounds regularly and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, as well as bend and stoop as necessary. Adequate vision is required for cleanliness inspections and touchscreen operation. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for those with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
