This unique role offers the chance to influence how technology, policy, and public value integrate within the New Zealand Government. As Director – Public Sector (NZ), you will spearhead Datacom's strategic expansion throughout Wellington's public sector, fostering trusted executive relationships and establishing Datacom as a dependable long-term government partner. Your efforts will support agencies in managing intricate digital transformation priorities, including AI integration, resilience enhancement, modernisation, and building future-ready public services.

You will engage with customers at the highest level, unifying Datacom teams to provide a comprehensive Whole-of-Government approach based on deep partnerships, producing significant system-wide outcomes for New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Drive strategic growth initiatives across Wellington's public sector clients and prospects.
• Establish and maintain executive-level relationships, promoting a Whole-of-Government engagement strategy.
• Develop account strategies that align with government objectives around AI, resilience, and digital transformation.
• Lead efforts related to GDDA, AoG, and strategic procurement opportunities.
• Convert government policies and market indicators into actionable growth plans.
• Offer leadership in strategic pursuits and coordination among cross-functional stakeholders.
• Enhance Datacom’s reputation as a trusted advisor through executive interaction and thought leadership.
• Support solid commercial results through strategic account planning and governance.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated extensive expertise in executive leadership, public sector strategy, government relations, or senior public sector sales roles.
• Comprehensive understanding of New Zealand Government frameworks, priorities, and procurement processes.
• Proven track record of leading strategic account growth and executive engagement within the public sector.
• Strong commercial insight with experience achieving sustainable growth.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing capabilities.
• Skill in translating complex technology and transformation projects into meaningful outcomes for the public sector.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a Tier 2 Service Provider environment.
• Established senior connections across New Zealand’s public sector.
• Awareness of emerging government priorities including AI, cybersecurity resilience, and digital transformation.
