Job description

Role Overview

We are inviting a seasoned and insightful leader to direct our Oil Research division. This senior position within Commodities Research offers a platform to define strategic directions, influence global oil market perspectives, and lead a global team. The Director will foster an inclusive environment that encourages diverse viewpoints, rigorous analysis, and technological advancement while establishing robust relationships across the business and industry sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all facets of oil research to maintain analysis that is pertinent, actionable, and commercially significant.
  • Lead a geographically dispersed team, enhance supply and demand analysis, and improve modelling frameworks.
  • Optimize research workflows and operational models.
  • Represent the organization externally at various customer engagements and industry conferences.
  • Collaborate with teams spanning Research, Product, Technology, Data, and Operations to achieve results and eliminate execution obstacles.
  • Recruit, develop, and plan succession within the research team to elevate capabilities.
  • Prioritize research and product development working closely with commercial and product stakeholders.

Experience & Expertise Required

  • Extensive leadership experience in commodities research with demonstrated success leading teams and achieving outcomes.
  • In-depth knowledge of oil markets, including fundamentals, supply and demand, pricing, trading flows, and commercial factors driving research demand.
  • Proven ability to formulate strategy, manage priorities, and execute effectively in dynamic, cross-functional settings.
  • Strong collaborative skills, with experience engaging Product, Sales, Technology, and Content teams to deliver business benefits.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation capabilities with credibility to work alongside senior executives and clientele.
  • Focus on execution excellence, including improving operating models, processes, and workflows.
  • Open-minded and adaptable leadership style, valuing diverse perspectives and adjusting when appropriate.
