Join our newly established Dublin engineering center as the Director of Software Engineering for Infrastructure Platforms. This role involves setting technical culture, advancing innovation in enterprise infrastructure, and leading a high-performing team. You will collaborate with skilled professionals, lead technical efforts to build scalable platforms, and define engineering best practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a compact group of senior engineers, promoting accountability and high ownership.
• Architect, develop, and operate enterprise-scale infrastructure platforms covering the entire lifecycle from design to production.
• Engage hands-on with writing and reviewing production code, maintaining exemplary engineering standards.
• Implement AI-integrated engineering methodologies with strong validation protocols ensuring speed does not compromise accuracy.
• Participate in on-call rotations and serve as an escalation point for incident response, focusing on operational reliability and observability.
• Evaluate and enhance platform scalability, efficiency, performance, and resilience.
• Clarify complex ambiguous challenges into actionable tasks for both engineers and AI systems.
• Lead governance and strategic direction for AI-driven engineering automation, including workflow orchestration, test modernization, and incident management, while ensuring security, validation, and reuse constraints.
• Leverage software development lifecycle tools including approved AI-assisted development technologies to maximize automation benefits and expand capacity.
• Set measurable success criteria, monitor outcomes, and hold the team accountable.
• Collaborate with infrastructure stakeholders, manage technical debates, and proactively mitigate risks.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in hands-on software engineering with production coding in languages such as Python, Go, Java, C++, or Rust.
• Extensive expertise in at least one infrastructure domain (cloud, networking, compute, storage, security, or data infrastructure) including building and running systems.
• Experience with large-scale production systems management, on-call duties, incident troubleshooting, and designing for reliability and maintainability.
• Proficient in leading or mentoring engineering teams and setting technical roadmaps.
• Strong systems thinking capabilities including understanding interfaces, failure modes, and scalable interactions.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools in real engineering contexts, assessing appropriate AI application versus human intervention.
• A security-centric approach spanning from design through production.
• Excellent communication skills with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Results-driven mindset with focus on impact, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Comfort working in ambiguous, new, or greenfield contexts.
• Inclusive and collaborative leadership to attract, develop, and retain senior engineering talent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience across multiple infrastructure areas or programming languages.
• History of reducing operational workload and costs through automation and optimized engineering approaches.
• Experience implementing AI-native engineering frameworks at team or organizational level.
• Leadership in adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering tools with defined operational policies, outcome measurement, and secure data handling.
• Solid comprehension of responsible AI use, control mechanisms, data sensitivity issues, and governance for scalable engineering workflows.
• Background in large regulated or enterprise environments.
• Experience building from the ground up and establishing engineering culture in new teams or locations.
