Role Overview

As the Director of Domain Consulting (DCD), you will manage a team of Domain Consultants who support the sales teams with technical expertise to drive growth. This role calls for a business-savvy professional with deep technical knowledge in security platforms, application architectures, and sales, alongside proven leadership in managing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with leadership in Solution Consulting and Sales to synchronize technology initiatives with company-wide sales goals.
  • Lead and improve pre-sales technical operations to deliver effective solutions that meet scope and targets.
  • Engage with customers and partners at senior technical levels, offering insights into trends, challenges, and evolving technologies to inform security decisions.
  • Gain and communicate an in-depth understanding of challenges customers face that Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex solutions address.
  • Drive the execution of technical strategies to provide customer-centric security solutions within Cortex.
  • Initiate and promote outcome-driven technical projects to boost pipeline and sales; collaborate with leadership to refine technical success.
  • Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with partners (resellers, distributors, integrators, alliances), enhancing sales productivity through enablement and joint efforts.
  • Lead technical efforts in portfolio expansion, demonstrating growth through widespread adoption and upselling of key security solutions.
  • Ensure technical teams acquire deep expertise, delivering high win rates through knowledge and capability within Cortex.
  • Report transparently on successes and highlight areas needing improvement in technical initiatives.
  • Champion talent management by developing staff, reducing turnover, and promoting career advancement in technical roles.
  • Work effectively across diverse teams including Support, SE, Product Management, R&D to resolve complex issues and foster innovation.
  • Serve as an escalation point for technical issues arising both pre- and post-sales within Cortex.
  • Oversee technical evaluations and proof-of-value projects, ensuring timely execution and a strong win rate.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of management experience in Domain Consulting or related technical leadership roles.
  • Expertise with SIEM, SOAR, SOC, and endpoint security environments.
  • Proficient understanding of public cloud design, cloud-native security, CI/CD, DevOps, firewalls, and associated technologies, both technically and from a business perspective.
  • Awareness of application development, cloud trends, and security operations markets.
  • Well-regarded partner and customer trusted advisor with a collaborative reputation.
  • Strong management, technical, and business acumen paired with a challenger sales mindset and adaptability.
  • Up to date with security product trends and Palo Alto Networks’ strategic technology direction.
  • Ability to deliver complete security solutions and understand competitive dynamics.
  • Experience engaging with senior organizational stakeholders, partners, and alliances.
  • Executive presence coupled with sharp intellect to operate as a cross-functional business partner.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical details into clear business benefits.
  • Commercial focus with dedication to customer success and revenue growth.
  • Lead by example including hands-on involvement in business details when necessary.
  • Highly autonomous, capable of initiating and driving cross-functional projects to completion.
