This role offers meaningful work that creates real impact, alongside dedicated colleagues who prioritize partnership and high performance in achieving collective success.
Role Summary
The Director of Data Enablement is responsible for designing and advancing reusable enterprise platforms, tools, and services that empower users and software applications to discover, comprehend, and securely access trusted data products. This position involves guiding the technical vision for data portals, APIs, SDKs, and data consumption services, driving adoption across organizational units, and defining scalable operational models, architectural standards, and best engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and continuously improve reusable Data Enablement services to enhance data discovery, accessibility, reliability, and usage metrics.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and users across departments to understand requirements, promote existing services, and develop a multi-quarter product strategy.
- Create secure, robust, and scalable solutions using DevSecOps methodologies, automation, well-defined service-level objectives, observability tools, and effective incident management procedures.
- Produce both high-level and detailed solution designs, including threat modeling as needed, and secure approvals from Architecture Review Board and Information Security teams.
- Partner with Cloud Foundation, Data Foundation, domain teams, and control functions to implement solutions consistent with enterprise standards and platform governance.
- Develop architecture standards for portals, APIs, SDKs, and consumption services that integrate with the Enterprise Data Fabric and data catalog.
- Own the operational framework for consumer enablement services, mentor Lead and Senior Engineers, and enhance delivery and engineering excellence.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Over 10 years of experience in developing and managing enterprise platforms or shared services, including web portals and API ecosystems.
- Deep expertise with AWS cloud platform engineering, covering networking, security, identity and access management, and multi-account setups.
- Strong proficiency in API and service-oriented architectures such as REST or GraphQL, event-driven designs, Neptune, OpenAPI standards, versioning, backward compatibility, and resilience engineering.
- Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps practices (e.g., Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, automated security controls, observability).
- Experience in solution architecture, platform governance, Architecture Review Board engagement, and collaboration with Information Security.
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional delivery, ability to influence without direct authority, talent development, and stakeholder alignment around measurable enterprise objectives.
- Knowledge of structured data and schema processing; familiarity with semantic modeling, agentic frameworks, retrieval methods, vector search, container platforms, or governed data-serving technologies are advantageous.
- Preferred AWS certifications validating expertise.
