Job description
Role Overview
Auckland Airport serves as the primary gateway to Aotearoa, facilitating travel, business connections, and community engagement. With ambitions to become an international hub, the airport is undergoing a substantial capital development program. The Digital Designer and Visualisation Specialist will play a critical role in visualizing major infrastructure projects, specifically the new terminal layout. This involves translating complex spatial data into compelling and precise 3D visual content for both internal stakeholders and public engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Strategic Planning and Architecture teams to create early spatial mock-ups and design options, supporting feasibility studies and business cases.
- Maintain strong partnerships with external service providers and software vendors to support the digital delivery program.
- Produce 3D massing models, layout designs, and design iterations for building, terminal, retail, and landside planning scenarios to aid rapid testing and refinement of ideas.
- Create time-based models to effectively communicate project schedules and delivery timelines.
- Work with Operations and Commercial teams to understand spatial needs, constraints, and goals, then translate these into clear visualizations that support decision-making.
- Generate high-quality architectural renders, animations, and visual content using BIM models and real-time rendering platforms.
- Leverage campus-wide lidar scans to enhance the quality of BIM and GIS 3D datasets.
- Expand the application of 3D data within the GIS platform.
- Coordinate with Communications and Marketing to manage and deliver 3D visualization materials for public consultations, media releases, investor presentations, and public digital content.
- Lead external visualization projects, collaborating with creative agencies, photographers, and production partners as necessary.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience working on large-scale, complex infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with 3ds Max, Unreal Engine, and Synchro 4D software tools.
- Experience within major infrastructure or capital works programs.
- Background potentially in Architecture, 3D visualization, BIM, simulation, or video gaming.
- Advanced skills in BIM authoring software such as Revit or ArchiCAD, with the ability to develop and refine design models from concept through schematic phases.
- Expertise in both real-time and offline rendering environments for architectural visualization.
- Proven track record creating visualization content for external audiences including public consultations, media, and investors.
