Role Overview
The Digital Engineer will oversee civil infrastructure projects at the airport, ensuring Building Information Models (BIM), spatial information, and asset data meet the required standards throughout project phases. This position leads the ongoing improvement of accurate records for civil assets, hence guaranteeing trustworthy information to support informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for civil infrastructure data requests from internal teams and external consultants or contractors.
- Maintain and update BIM models and databases with precise, current data related to airport assets including areas such as airfields, underground utilities, and roads, reflecting changes from capital investment initiatives.
- Align civil infrastructure documentation with Auckland Airport's specified digital delivery standards, ensuring data classification, attribution, and operational handover readiness per the Asset Information Delivery Manual.
- Conduct field data acquisition using various 3D laser scanning equipment across diverse project types.
- Develop detailed 3D models supporting planning, design, and construction stages to visually communicate project status and impacts.
- Process point cloud and imagery datasets involving registration, cleaning, feature extraction, and effective file management.
- Manage and maintain scanning technology and related software ensuring optimal performance and updates.
- Train and advise contractors and consultants on digital delivery protocols and tool usage.
Candidate Profile

- A minimum of 8 years’ experience managing complex large-scale infrastructure or capital works projects.
- Demonstrated expertise with BIM modeling and management tools such as Civil 3D, Infraworks, Revit, Open Roads, and Archicad.
- Proficiency handling laser scan data for spatial documentation.
- Experience working within open BIM frameworks and familiarity with IFC data structures and exchange mechanisms.
- Excellent communication abilities to facilitate coordination across multidisciplinary groups.
