About the Role
As a DevOps Engineer at Global Wave Group based in Albany, Auckland, you will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and continuous integration/delivery pipelines. This position requires a blend of expertise in infrastructure automation and application development, collaborating closely with backend teams working in Java and Python, as well as frontend developers using React, to ensure streamlined deployment and excellent application performance. The role reports directly to the Head of IT and requires working hours from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and manage scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Design and operate Kubernetes clusters, manage container images, and refine orchestration strategies.
- Develop and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Tekton, ArgoCD, or GitHub Actions to automate build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Create and support Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Ansible for reproducible and version-controlled environments.
- Troubleshoot and develop solutions for DevOps applications utilizing Java, Python, and React JS.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, and others to ensure system health and quick incident management.
- Administer Linux and Windows server environments, focusing on kernel tuning, network setup, and performance optimization.
Essential Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Engineering roles.
- Proficient in AWS cloud services including EC2, EBS, CloudWatch, CloudFront, S3, RDS, Lambda, WAF, SSM, VPC, and IAM.
- Strong skills with Docker and Kubernetes, including Helm charts, operators, or service mesh technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration and networking.
- Good scripting skills in Python or Bash; Java experience is advantageous.
- Experienced in using Git with branching workflows.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude and capacity to work agilely, along with proficient written and verbal Mandarin communication abilities.
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with backend development using Java Spring Boot and Python Flask.
- Understanding frontend frameworks including React, TypeScript, CSS (Tailwind), and build tools such as Vite.
- Experience managing both SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (StarRocks) databases.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps, including vulnerability scanning and security compliance.
