Overview

Global Wave Group is seeking a dedicated Digital SEO Specialist for their Albany, Auckland office. This position reports directly to the Global Marketing Manager and is central to enhancing the technical SEO of the company’s websites while supporting the content team with insightful, data-driven guidance. The role requires collaboration with SEO writers, developers, and marketing personnel to uncover growth opportunities, fix technical SEO issues, and implement strategies that drive consistent organic traffic increases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed keyword research to assist SEO writers with content planning and prioritization.
  • Create and update keyword maps linking targeted keywords to specific pages or content clusters.
  • Develop comprehensive SEO briefs for content creators, detailing primary and secondary keywords, search intent, and on-page SEO cues such as titles, headers, meta descriptions, and internal linking structures.
  • Identify and solve technical SEO problems including indexation issues, crawl budget management, site speed optimization, structured data, canonical tags, hreflang implementation, redirects, and XML sitemap management.
  • Perform routine website health audits using SEO tools and distill findings into simplified, actionable reports for stakeholders without technical expertise.
  • Track key search metrics like rankings, clicks, impressions, and click-through rates, identifying areas for enhancement.
  • Ensure site architecture, internal linking strategy, mobile optimization, and Core Web Vitals align with SEO best practices.
  • Collaborate with developers to create, execute, and verify technical SEO fixes while managing clear tickets and test cases.
  • Partner with the wider marketing team to guarantee search-friendly and technically optimized campaign landing pages and funnels.
  • Stay informed of significant search engine updates and communicate noteworthy changes and potential risks to the broader team.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of two years of hands-on SEO experience, particularly emphasizing technical SEO and on-page optimization.
  • Comprehensive understanding of search engine crawling, indexing, and ranking processes.
  • Proficient with leading SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics/GA4, and SEMrush.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and fundamental JavaScript concepts relevant to SEO.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), including WordPress, and knowing how to apply SEO recommendations within these platforms.
  • Strong analytical acumen enabling data interpretation into clear recommendations.
  • Effective communication skills for explaining technical SEO concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Competent English reading skills to utilize global SEO resources; additional language skills are advantageous.
