Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer to architect, build, and maintain automated test suites for our Next.js web applications as well as native iOS and Android apps. This role involves leveraging Playwright for web testing and Appium for mobile automation. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with developers and manual QA teams to ensure high-quality releases by designing robust, maintainable automation frameworks integrated into CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain automated testing frameworks utilizing Playwright and Appium.
• Create comprehensive end-to-end test cases for Next.js based web applications.
• Develop automated tests for native mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms.
• Construct reusable test modules such as components, fixtures, utilities, and test data sets.
• Automate crucial user workflows, regression suites, smoke tests, and integration scenarios.
• Ensure application behavior validation across different browsers, devices, operating systems, and screen resolutions.
• Integrate automated testing suites seamlessly into continuous integration and deployment environments.
• Configure test execution environments spanning development, testing, staging, and production-like settings.
• Analyze test failures to pinpoint root causes distinguishing application bugs from automation issues.
• Collaborate with product managers, developers, and manual testers to define acceptance criteria and comprehensive test coverage.
• Review software requirements and designs to identify testability issues and gaps in testing coverage.
• Document test strategies, automation guidelines, results, and known limitations.
• Monitor automation coverage, test reliability, defect identification, and patterns in regression failures.
• Reduce flaky test cases and enhance test suite stability and performance.
• Support validation of software releases and assist in diagnosing production problems as needed.
• Provide guidance to manual QA engineers in executing and expanding automation suites.

Required Qualifications

• Professional experience in a QA automation or software development-in-test role.
• Hands-on expertise with Playwright for browser automation.
• Practical experience automating native iOS and Android applications using Appium.
• Proficiency testing React or Next.js web applications.
• Strong programming skills in JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience running tests on physical devices, simulators, and emulators across mobile platforms.
• Experience with cross-browser and cross-platform validation.
• Integrating automated tests within CI/CD workflows.
• Working knowledge of REST APIs, including JSON data structures, HTTP protocols, authentication, and backend integrations.
• Familiarity with Git and pull-request driven development workflows.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot test failures through logs, video captures, screenshots, network activity, and application data analysis.
• Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, regression test strategies, and SDLC processes.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using cloud-based device testing platforms such as BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, or AWS Device Farm.
• Skills in API automation and contract testing.
• Background testing regulated domains including fintech, payments, banking, or payroll solutions.
• Knowledge of accessibility testing standards such as WCAG.
• Experience validating analytics, event tracking, and third-party integrations.
• Familiarity with test management tools like Jira or Zephyr.
• Experience in performance, load, or security testing.
• Proficiency in test data generation, database validations, and environment setup management.
• Ability to mentor manual QA personnel and promote automation adoption.

Technical Environment

• Web technologies: Next.js, React, Playwright, TypeScript.
• Mobile technologies: Native iOS and Android, Appium.
• Testing types: End-to-end, regression, smoke, integration, API, and cross-platform testing.
• Version control and delivery: Git-based workflows, continuous integration/deployment.
• Test execution on local devices, simulators/emulators, and cloud device platforms.

Success Metrics

Achievement will be measured by delivering dependable automated coverage of critical workflows on both web and mobile platforms, resulting in improved release quality and reduced manual testing effort.
