Role Overview

The Design Manager for Transportation will be responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of transportation infrastructure projects in Qatar. This includes managing cross-functional teams, ensuring adherence to both local and international compliance standards, and delivering projects on schedule and within budget. The role requires close collaboration with clients and stakeholders throughout all phases of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the design and delivery of transportation projects, including roads, bridges, rail networks, and public transit systems.
• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets aligned with client objectives and organizational goals.
• Control risk, quality, and change management processes over the project's duration.
• Coordinate and critically evaluate design outputs to ensure compliance with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), and international codes such as IBC, BS, and ADA.
• Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize project efficiency and promote sustainability.
• Supervise the creation of technical documentation including reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Engage proactively with government bodies, clients, contractors, and internal teams to secure approvals and project alignment.
• Lead workshops, technical discussions, and presentations with various stakeholders to sustain project momentum.
• Manage and mentor a diverse team of engineers, architects, and planners, fostering interdisciplinary cooperation and clear communication.
• Implement sustainable design principles focused on energy efficiency, multimodal transport integration, and minimizing environmental footprints.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and practices in transportation design to drive innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
• At least 15 years of experience in transportation design and project management, with a proven history of successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects in Qatar or the GCC region.
• Expertise in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, VISUM, and VISSIM.
• Strong foundation in transportation modeling, geometric design, and traffic impact analysis.
• Professional certifications like PMP and GSAS are beneficial.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
