Job description
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced ELV Design Engineer to lead the comprehensive design and engineering of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems for building and infrastructure developments. This role requires close collaboration with clients, architects, and project teams to capture requirements, create detailed designs, and ensure compliance with both international and local regulatory standards. Additionally, the engineer will provide technical guidance throughout the installation and commissioning stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with clients, architects, and project managers to grasp project goals and needs.
- Design ELV systems including Structured Cabling, Data Networks, Voice Networks, Security Systems (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection), Audio-Visual setups, Public Address systems, Building Automation Systems, and Fire Alarm Systems.
- Produce comprehensive design drawings, schematics, and technical specifications using CAD tools like AutoCAD.
- Conduct on-site surveys and assessments to collect data essential for design and implementation.
- Perform technical feasibility analyses and risk evaluations to confirm the effectiveness and practicality of proposed solutions.
- Ensure all designs adhere to industry codes and standards such as ANSI/TIA/EIA, BICSI, and NFPA.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to select suitable equipment, materials, and technologies.
- Offer technical support and guidance to installation and commissioning teams throughout project execution.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot problems, and recommend corrective solutions as necessary.
- Remain informed about new technologies, trends, and best practices in ELV system design and integration.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7 to 9 years of experience in designing and engineering ELV or Low Current systems, ideally within system integrator or contracting environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) specializing in Electronics & Communication, Telecommunications, or Electrical & Electronics.
- Professional certifications preferred: BICSI (e.g., RCDD), vendor certifications in CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, or Building Management Systems.
- Certifications related to AutoCAD or Building Information Modelling (BIM) are advantageous.
