Role Summary

As a Deli Clerk, you will be responsible for slicing, packaging, weighing, and selling a variety of deli products such as meats and cheeses. You will also maintain the deli’s cleanliness and presentation, operate equipment safely, and assist members with their deli needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, recommending products, and processing special orders.
• Accurately slice, package, and weigh deli products; prepare party trays and special orders.
• Receive, inspect, stock, rotate, and store deli products adhering to food safety and freshness protocols.
• Maintain quality standards by checking for expired items and following product salvage procedures.
• Keep deli displays well-stocked with a wide variety of products.
• Operate deli equipment safely and perform routine cleaning and sanitation of equipment and work surfaces.
• Ensure weighing scales are calibrated and all products are priced correctly.
• Adhere to all company policies and support cross-department tasks as assigned.
• Maintain consistent attendance as a critical job function.

Qualifications

• Previous deli department experience is preferred.
• Experience with manual or power slicing equipment and scales is advantageous.
• Familiarity with deli products is preferred.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Working Conditions

• Job requires frequent movement on hard flooring, occasional bending, reaching, pulling, and stooping.
• Ability to lift items up to 30 pounds regularly, and with assistance for heavier or awkward objects.
• Indoor workplace with exposure to varying temperatures from freezers, ovens, and coolers; potential contact with cleaning chemicals.

Compensation

The estimated pay range for this position is $17.50 to $21.50 per hour, depending on location, qualifications, and experience.
