Defect Identification Officer

Role Overview

Join our Civil Works & Presentation team as a Defect Identification Officer dedicated to maintaining the safety and functionality of community civil infrastructure. This role involves conducting routine inspections on assets such as roads, footpaths, car parks, wharves, and jetties to identify defects early and support maintenance efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute scheduled inspections throughout the Council's civil infrastructure network to detect defects and maintenance needs.
• Assess identified issues for repair requirements and efficiently log them to aid maintenance programs.
• Work both autonomously and collaboratively within the team to ensure inspections adhere to established timeframes.
• Support the prioritization and planning of maintenance activities based on inspection findings.
• Contribute to enhancing asset longevity and community safety through accurate reporting and defect identification.

Candidate Profile

• Experienced in civil construction or infrastructure maintenance with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.
• Proficient in using field technology to document defects and maintain records accurately.
• Customer-focused mindset with excellent observational capabilities.
• Ability to work independently while integrating within a supportive team environment.

Additional Information

• Employment is full-time, with 38 hours per week on a 9-day fortnight schedule.
• Annual salary ranges from $67,397 to $71,439 plus 12% superannuation.
