About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to join our client's team on a full-time basis. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere. The annual compensation ranges between $220,000 and $260,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and fine-tune database systems to meet stringent performance and scalability standards.
- Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, and automated recovery mechanisms for database environments.
- Manage incident responses and conduct post-mortem evaluations to reduce downtime and enhance system robustness.
- Partner with engineering teams to embed database best practices within their development workflows.
- Assess and implement new database technologies and tools to improve service reliability and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in database administration or reliability engineering, particularly with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent database systems.
- Expertise in SQL querying and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience utilizing cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure, including their managed database services.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform and Ansible for deploying databases.
- Proficient in observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog for monitoring database health.
- Skillful in automating routine tasks with scripting languages including Python, Bash, or Go.
- Strong knowledge of database security protocols and compliance standards.
- Hands-on experience with configuring high-availability systems and planning for disaster recovery.
