The Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) team manages eBay’s data infrastructure, supporting everything from data experiments to analytics throughout the data lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead data science projects encompassing data analysis, model creation, and performance assessments.
• Create and apply sophisticated statistical and machine learning techniques to tackle complex business challenges.
• Enhance experimentation frameworks, including A/B testing, multivariate analysis, and advanced testing approaches like interleaving and Bayesian methods.
• Utilize advanced SQL to handle and optimize queries on expansive datasets.
• Work cross-functionally to gather requirements and devise data-driven solutions that empower decision-making.
• Develop machine learning applications such as bot traffic detection and customer profiling.
• Stay current with emerging data science trends and recommend innovations to improve methodologies.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience supported by a master’s or doctoral degree in Computer Science or related quantitative discipline.
• Proven track record in constructing and validating statistical or machine learning models.
• Expertise programming in Python or R and leveraging ML libraries like scikit-learn or GBM.
• Strong command of advanced SQL, including tuning queries for handling large-scale data.
• Experience with Hadoop and Spark within cloud platforms.
• Ability to solve complex problems and deploy machine learning solutions in operational settings.
• Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate sophisticated analyses to non-specialist audiences.
