Team and Role Overview

The Corporate Strategy team at eBay directs the company's strategic trajectory, analyzing customer needs and competitive dynamics to shape how eBay competes in the marketplace. They collaborate closely with product, technology, and regional teams to translate strategic plans into actionable initiatives. The Director leads multiple cross-functional projects and manages strategy associates and managers, influencing eBay’s long-term direction by providing pragmatic, actionable recommendations grounded in thorough analysis and creative problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Craft and lead the development of innovative strategies that differentiate eBay in the marketplace, driving consensus with key stakeholders.
• Independently manage cross-functional projects involving executives and senior partners across the organization.
• Build subject matter expertise and provide thought leadership on strategic challenges, developing creative, well-considered solutions.
• Support the mobilization and implementation of strategic initiatives within eBay’s operational teams to ensure execution.
• Perform market and competitive analyses to offer insights on industry trends, technology shifts, and regulatory impacts.
• Utilize quantitative and qualitative analytics to inform sound business judgments and solve complex problems.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the strategy team to successfully execute critical projects and initiatives.
• Create and deliver clear, compelling presentations to senior leadership, simplifying complex ideas into understandable narratives.
• Navigate ambiguity and lead resources effectively to produce high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and capacity for structured, innovative, and out-of-the-box thinking.
• Strong communication skills with ease in executive-level engagement and the ability to craft clear, simple stories from complex data.
• Proven leadership and mentoring competencies, with experience directing project teams to deliver strategic objectives.
• Comfortable with cross-functional collaboration within a highly matrixed corporate structure.
• Excellent analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, with a talent for deriving actionable insights.
• Adept at managing uncertainty and change gracefully.
• Highly collaborative and personable, fostering a positive and productive working environment.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of professional experience, including 2-3 years at a top-tier strategy consulting firm at project management level.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
• Expertise in technology sectors, preferably in ecommerce, retail, payments, or consumer-facing products, is advantageous.
