Data Protection Consultant

About the Role

Join Capco in Doha as a Data Protection and Data Loss Prevention Consultant working within the Technology & Engineering practice. This permanent position focuses on defending critical data assets, enhancing security controls, and minimizing information risk for clients primarily in financial services. You will tackle sophisticated data protection challenges by implementing robust data security practices to satisfy governance and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy a thorough multi-layered data protection strategy involving data classification, discovery, encryption, and the use of DLP solutions.
• Create, execute, and improve Data Loss Prevention policies, technical controls, and related operational processes covering enterprise environments.
• Classify and identify sensitive data, converting both business objectives and regulatory mandates into actionable policies and controls.
• Oversee alert monitoring and incident management including investigation, remediation actions, tuning of systems, and driving continuous process enhancement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in security, data management, risk, technology, and business to ensure DLP controls are integrated across endpoints, networks, cloud platforms, and applications.
• Document governance and reporting related to data protection and DLP operations to maintain operational transparency.
• Support data governance initiatives, measure control effectiveness, and assist in establishing enduring data protection frameworks.

Required Experience and Skills

• Solid expertise in Data Loss Prevention, information security, or equivalent cybersecurity and data protection domains.
• Hands-on experience with DLP technologies encompassing data classification, protection, policy enforcement, monitoring, and incident handling.
• Proven ability to deploy and manage DLP controls across multiple vectors including endpoints, email systems, networks, cloud environments, and enterprise apps.
• Strong knowledge of data governance principles, security controls, risk management, privacy regulations, and related compliance requirements.
• Effective communicator with excellent stakeholder engagement skills capable of simplifying complex data protection concepts into actionable results.

Additional Advantages

• Prior experience leading DLP or data protection projects within financial services or similarly regulated sectors.
• Familiarity with major enterprise DLP and information protection platforms.
• Understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, data discovery tools, encryption, or digital rights management.
• Possession of cybersecurity, cloud, or data security certifications regarded as beneficial.
• Exposure to extensive data security, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, or transformative technology programs.
