Position Overview

We seek a Data Modeler based in Sydney, Australia who will translate existing enterprise and domain data models into physical designs suitable for deployment, collaborate closely with developers, solution and data architects, and vendors, maintain consistent identification systems and reference data, review data models to align with target architecture, and manage legacy data model transitions effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand and absorb current enterprise and domain data models.
• Convert logical data models into physical designs for implementation.
• Collaborate hands-on with developers, architects, and vendors.
• Ensure consistent application of identifiers, reference data, and audit/history tracking.
• Review and rectify data designs to prevent deviations from intended architecture.
• Manage legacy data models and confidently handle data transition processes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated expertise in both logical and physical data modeling.
• Proficiency and hands-on experience with SPARX Enterprise Architect.
• Experience using modeling tools relevant to the role.
• Strong grasp of conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling methods.
• Practical experience implementing models in relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Comfortable navigating regulated or complex domain environments.
• Skilled in working with source data dictionaries and source-to-target mappings.
• Ability to define column-level mappings and transformation rules.
• Application of business rules, target model validation, and schema validation.
• Expertise in key and relationship validation and planning reconciliation processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting API-driven and microservices-based architectures.
• Background in managing legacy platforms and executing data migration tasks.
