Role Overview
As an Operations Engineer supporting Singtel's GPU-as-a-Service platform, you will play a vital role in implementing, integrating, and running day-to-day data centre environments that support AI and High-Performance Computing workloads. This position offers exposure to both physical data centre operations and the software systems supporting GPU-focused facilities. It is an opportunity to gain expertise in advanced data centre technologies tailored for AI and HPC within a dynamic operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to and escalate incidents based on defined impact, criticality, and service level agreements.
- Conduct hands-on operations with air-cooled and liquid-cooled systems, plus electrical infrastructure within the data centre.
- Engage in continuous operational process enhancements considering the requirements of GPU-centric data centres.
- Facilitate security clearance processes for visitors and vendors accessing the GPUaaS facilities.
- Oversee vendor activities ensuring compliance with Workplace Safety and Health standards and site policies.
- Provide scheduled or on-call support outside regular hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as needed.
- Monitor data centre facilities and infrastructures like power, cooling, leakage detection, and environmental controls.
- Maintain and update documentation such as operational logs and incident reports.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external parties to resolve technical and procedural issues within the data centre.
- Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures, Methods of Procedure, and Emergency Response Procedures.
- Utilize knowledge of power and cooling for both air-cooled and liquid-cooled servers to enhance operations and assist in capacity planning.
- Coordinate maintenance and system shutdowns with relevant stakeholders to sustain service reliability and uptime.
- Compile monthly reports detailing overall data centre health and performance.
- Identify potential safety and health hazards within the workplace.
- Conduct visual inspections of servers and cooling units and collaborate with remote engineers for server troubleshooting.
Candidate Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or closely related fields.
- Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in data centres, including fire safety, building management, equipment upkeep, and spatial planning.
- Experience operating and maintaining data centre electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Capability to work autonomously and in team settings.
- Organized, flexible, and adaptable to shifting operational demands and schedules.
- Enthusiasm to learn and develop expertise in GPU-focused and critical data centre technologies.
