Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services manages the end-to-end design, planning, delivery, and daily operation of all AWS's global physical infrastructure. This team guarantees the continuous availability of AWS data centers through the maintenance of servers, storage devices, networking, power, and cooling equipment, enabling customers to access cloud innovations seamlessly.
The Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Team safeguards the physical assets of AWS, ensuring safety, security, productivity, capacity, and cost efficiency while supporting operations round the clock. This role requires an individual with a solid technical background in critical facilities management and a results-oriented mindset to enhance operational excellence within AWS data centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems operate within contractual and facility standards.
- Fulfill daily operational duties, participate in on-call rotations, and respond effectively during assigned shifts.
- Coordinate and oversee minor and major infrastructure works, managing risks and obtaining necessary approvals within agreed service level agreements.
- Supervise contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors on-site, ensuring compliance with procedural standards and local laws.
- Generate reports detailing data center infrastructure operations and maintenance activities.
- Raise change management requests and incident tickets relevant to engineering operations.
- Collaborate with teams including IT, Networking, Logistics, Safety, and Security to complete projects and optimize infrastructure performance, safety, and sustainability.
- Review technical documentation supporting business and facility operations.
- Drive projects focused on boosting capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability within the facilities.
- Assist operational teams in resolving infrastructure engineering issues promptly.
- Troubleshoot facility and rack-level incidents within defined SLA timelines.
- Conduct rack installations, decommissions, and oversee facility management tasks.
- Monitor operational readings and key performance indicators to maintain system uptime.
- Perform maintenance and operational oversight of all critical electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment in data centers.
- Work schedules may include rotating shifts of up to 12 hours and on-call duties depending on site requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of electrical or mechanical experience.
- Ability to work within a 24/7 rotating shift schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- More than two years' experience in data center engineering roles.
- Experience overseeing operations of critical facilities with strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
- Background managing vendors and contractors conducting construction, maintenance, or upgrades in large-scale critical environments.
