About the Role

Kāinga Ora is seeking a dedicated Data Architect based in Wellington to lead strategic and technical initiatives across its enterprise data environment. This permanent, full-time position offers five weeks of annual leave and a comprehensive benefits package. Joining a dynamic Architecture & Security team, you will be instrumental in shaping data management, governance, and utilization to support technology transformation and deliver data-driven solutions aligned with organisational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and guide enterprise data architecture ensuring alignment with Kāinga Ora’s strategy and governance policies
  • Develop and enforce architecture standards, principles, reference models, and design patterns
  • Shape governance frameworks, security measures, and risk management across the data landscape
  • Collaborate across business and technical teams to influence and deliver enterprise-scale technology and data outcomes
  • Support the design and implementation of scalable, secure data platforms that enable trusted insights and interoperability

Candidate Profile

  • Extensive experience with enterprise data architecture in large, complex organisations
  • Expert knowledge of data modelling, integration architecture, data platforms, data storage, and lifecycle management
  • Strong background in enterprise architecture frameworks, governance, security, and risk management
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain architecture standards and facilitate consistent decision-making
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influence skills across multidisciplinary teams
  • Pragmatic approach balancing strategic vision and practical delivery
  • Effective communication skills capable of translating technical concepts into meaningful business outcomes
