About the Role

A well-established and growing company based in Westmeath seeks an experienced Data Analyst to become part of their expanding data team. This permanent position focuses on analyzing data to address critical business challenges, enhance operational efficiency, and inform strategic commercial decisions. Collaboration with various teams within data, technology, and business units is a key part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze extensive, complex datasets to derive valuable insights and respond to business queries.
  • Detect emerging trends, risk factors, and opportunities to improve overall performance.
  • Produce analyses that support operational, commercial, and strategic decision-making processes.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers to comprehend data structure, availability, and quality.
  • Partner with reporting and visualization experts to enhance dashboards and management reports.
  • Provide context and interpretation of reports to help stakeholders understand data implications and recommended actions.
  • Present findings clearly and engagingly to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Support enhancements in data quality, governance, and analytical methodologies.
  • Explore opportunities to incorporate advanced analytics techniques, including machine learning and AI.
  • Contribute knowledge and best practices to foster ongoing development of the organization's analytics capabilities.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of five years' professional experience in data analytics, analysis, or reporting roles.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proficient in SQL with experience managing large and complex data sets.
  • Skilled in data extraction, transformation, segmentation, and manipulation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude to translate raw data into actionable business insights.
  • At least two years of experience using Python or R for data analysis tasks.
  • Solid understanding of databases, data models, and data structures.
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence concepts and reporting best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with prominent BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in financial services or other data-intensive industries.
  • Experience in insurance sectors, especially General Insurance.
  • Familiarity with predictive modeling and advanced analytics methods.
  • Involvement with machine learning or AI-focused analytical initiatives.

Additional Attributes

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong initiative in managing their projects and solving analytical challenges independently. A natural curiosity to explore data beyond pre-set reporting requirements is essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to effectively engage with cross-functional teams and translate complex analytics into clear, actionable information.
