C++ Software Engineer

About the Role

Our client is a top-tier fintech firm based in Ireland seeking a skilled C++ Developer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis. The role is remote, requiring the candidate to reside in Ireland for tax purposes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and improve backend software systems utilizing C++ and associated technologies.
• Create and implement scalable APIs and distributed architectures.
• Ensure production systems are stable, performant, and reliable under high transaction loads.
• Work collaboratively with product, operations, and support teams to implement effective technical solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve technical problems impacting platform stability and client service quality.
• Engage in software testing, code reviews, and continuous integration to uphold software quality standards.
• Operate within Linux environments to deploy, monitor, and sustain applications.
• Drive automation and technical enhancements throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Experience and Skills

• At least three years of professional software development experience with a strong emphasis on C++ programming.
• Proven expertise in building backend systems and developing RESTful APIs.
• Comprehensive understanding of relational database management and SQL.
• Comfortable working within Linux or Unix operating systems.
• Capable of working independently in a fully remote setting.
• Excellent problem-solving capability paired with effective communication skills.
• Experience in agile or rapidly evolving technical environments.

Preferred Competencies

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, especially Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Knowledge of containerisation platforms such as Docker or ECS.
• Additional programming knowledge in Golang, PHP, or Python.
• Understanding of networking protocols like HTTP, TCP/IP, TLS, and associated troubleshooting methodologies.
• Basic experience or interest in frontend technologies such as HTML and CSS.
• Enthusiasm towards cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps processes.

Education

A bachelor's degree or an equivalent credential in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.
