About the Role

Join our road maintenance crew in Mokau and play a key role in ensuring the safety and reliability of the local road network. This active and outdoor position involves road repairs, overseeing site safety, leading a team, and contributing to staff development within a dedicated and cooperative group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a cyclic crew dedicated to road maintenance
  • Regularly patrol assigned roads to monitor network condition
  • Identify and repair defects like potholes, replace edge markers, and clear blocked drainage
  • Conduct risk assessments and establish safe working zones for crew and public safety
  • Provide training and growth opportunities to team members
  • Efficiently utilize materials, equipment, and supplies
  • Collaborate within the team to perform maintenance activities effectively
  • Be prepared to perform on-call duties as part of emergency response protocols
  • Document completed tasks using electronic systems such as RAMM or AWM

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Possession of a full Class 2 New Zealand Driver's Licence
  • Traffic Management certification or applicable experience is advantageous
  • Proven experience in leading and supervising teams
  • Strong work ethic coupled with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Dependability and reliability in work performance
  • Competence in fault identification and repair
  • Confident decision-making and problem-solving capabilities

Additional Information

This role is physically demanding and requires spending considerable time outdoors and on your feet. Successful candidates will be subject to pre-employment screening including drug testing, medical examination, and Ministry of Justice check.
