Role Overview

The Cutting Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining cutting equipment to ensure precise and efficient cutting of materials according to specified production guidelines and safety requirements. This role is integral to meeting daily production goals while upholding quality control, machine maintenance, and workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate various cutting machines including laser, plasma, CNC, die-cutting, or blade cutters per work orders and technical diagrams.
• Interpret and apply technical drawings, blueprints, and layouts to achieve accurate dimensions and optimal material use.
• Modify machine parameters such as speed, blade tension, and depth to maintain cutting quality standards.
• Conduct pre-operation machine inspections and perform routine upkeep including cleaning, lubrication, and tool replacement to ensure machine functionality.
• Oversee cutting processes and inspect output materials to identify defects or discrepancies from standards.
• Verify that the materials used conform to production specifications regarding type, thickness, and quality.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations, utilizing personal protective equipment and following machine safety protocols.
• Record daily production metrics including machine output and material consumption; communicate any issues or variances to supervisors.
• Coordinate with warehouse and quality assurance teams to facilitate material handling and verify product quality.
• Apply efficient cutting and nesting techniques to reduce material waste.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts aimed at boosting productivity and minimizing equipment downtime.
• Engage in performance reviews, KPI evaluations, and professional development activities with departmental staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and organizational goals.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of High School or vocational training in mechanical or technical disciplines is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience operating industrial cutting machinery is required.
