Customer Delivery Driver - Redditch Extra

Role Overview

As the key representative of Tesco during deliveries, Customer Delivery Drivers engage directly with customers at their homes daily. This position involves far more than just driving — it encompasses helping customers and delivering excellent service with a friendly attitude. The work is hands-on, physically active, and diverse, with no two shifts being identical. Drivers primarily work independently throughout the day but have managerial and team support available at the base as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and organization of the van, trays, and work area to ensure every customer receives their shopping in pristine condition.
• Load the van carefully and conduct all necessary checks to confirm it is roadworthy, dependable, and equipped for quality service delivery.
• Communicate effectively with customers about any order modifications, substitutions, or near-expiry items in a courteous manner, handling refunds as required to maintain a smooth and positive experience.
• Handle all products with care, treating each order as if it were your own to uphold quality and customer trust.
• Deliver orders within the specified time slot, offering warm, genuine service at the doorstep that makes customers feel appreciated and well cared for.

Candidate Requirements

• Develop strong relationships with colleagues to foster team spirit and ensure the best possible service to customers.
• Be warm and friendly in interactions with both customers and team members.
• Adapt quickly to changes in customer needs and embrace flexibility both on the road and within the store environment.
• Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for a minimum of 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting wage of £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 in stores within the M25 area, with some locations offering extra payments.
• Minimum guaranteed 16 hours per week, with options for roles starting at 12 hours weekly.
• Holiday entitlement begins at 20 days plus a personal day, rising to 22 days after one year, with additional Bank Holidays.
