Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the friendly and reliable face of Sainsbury's at customers' doors, ensuring a welcoming delivery experience.

- Conduct vehicle checks to confirm the van is clean, well-organised, and in proper working order before departure.
- Navigate assigned routes safely through varied traffic, weather, and road conditions.
- Handle and move shopping containers weighing up to 15 kilograms, delivering goods to homes with different access situations such as steps, lifts, or extended walks from the van.
- Maintain effective communication with customers, providing updates on delivery timing, addressing questions, and managing any modifications to orders.
- Assist with in-store duties as required when not performing deliveries.
Candidate Profile
- Friendly and courteous with a genuine enthusiasm for customer service and delivering a positive doorstep interaction.
- Capable and confident driving larger vehicles safely across various environments, including residential streets, city centers, and narrow lanes.
- Fit and comfortable working in an active, physically demanding role that requires repeated lifting of items weighing up to 15kg.
- Proactive and resourceful, with sound judgment to solve problems and make safe decisions while on the road.
- Enjoys a balance of independent work and collaboration within the store team.
- Flexible and open to taking on diverse store tasks and embracing new challenges.
- Eager to learn, grow, and adopt new technologies to enhance delivery service efficiency.
- Willing to master route and delivery management systems with confidence.
Essential Requirements
- Must be over 18 years old and hold a full UK/EU driving license for at least 12 months, with a maximum of six penalty points.
- Successful completion of an online driving risk assessment as part of the recruitment process, followed by an in-person driving assessment upon joining.
- UK Right to Work eligibility is mandatory.
- Adherence to Sainsbury's in-cab AI monitored driving system designed to promote safety and compliance with road regulations and best driving practices.

- Holiday allowance determined according to hours worked.
- Enhanced family leave options including maternity, paternity, and adoption leaves.
- Competitive pension scheme with employer matching contributions between 4% and 7.5%, plus life insurance up to six times salary.
- Participation in discounted Sainsbury's share schemes.
- Additional retail savings including dining, travel, and other retailers.
- Support for physical wellbeing including cycle-to-work schemes, bike rentals, reduced gym memberships, and health/dental cash plans.
- Access to 24/7 employee assistance programs and online mental wellbeing resources.
- Financial support mechanisms such as interest-free season ticket loans, salary advances, affordable loans, and payroll savings options.
