Job description
Role Overview
This position is for a Customer Delivery Driver based in Newry, Northern Ireland, delivering groceries to customers. Drivers play a vital role as the visible representatives of the company on the road, providing excellent service and assistance directly to customers at their homes.
Work Schedule and Availability
Shifts are scheduled within specific availability windows with a minimum guaranteed 16 weekly hours, though offers as low as 12 hours are also considered. Anticipated working days and times include Sundays 13:15–17:15, Mondays and Fridays 13:15–19:15, and Saturdays 14:15–20:15. Shift schedules are provided three weeks in advance, and flexibility is supported to accommodate similar availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the delivery van and trays used.
- Ensuring the yard area is kept tidy, free of rubbish, and picking up litter as encountered.
- Participating in washing trays as part of sanitation procedures.
- Loading the delivery van appropriately and checking the vehicle's roadworthiness before departure.
- Communicating with customers concerning any modifications, substitutions, or issues regarding their orders, including offering refunds when necessary.
- Handling delivered products and orders with care, treating them as personal possessions.
- Informing customers that substitutions will not incur extra charges.
- Delivering orders punctually within specified customer time slots.
- Calling customers ahead if arriving early, and notifying the store or center if running 30 minutes or more late.
Candidate Requirements

- Quick adaptability to evolving customer needs and an open attitude towards change within the store environment.
- Highly motivated and energetic, striving to exceed expectations while balancing work and personal life effectively.
- Willingness to share constructive suggestions with managers and peers to enhance store operations and customer experience.
- Possession of a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license (full or automatic) held for at least 12 months and with no more than 3 penalty points.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay rate of £14.18 per hour with potential additional payments based on location.
- Holiday entitlement starting at 20 days plus one personal day, increasing to 22 days after one year, along with bank holidays.
