Maintenance Technician

Role Overview

As a Maintenance Technician working at Tesco locations including Gatwick, Horsham, Brighton, and nearby areas, you will be key in maintaining a safe, operational, and inviting environment for both customers and staff. You will be part of a skilled team responsible for performing both planned and reactive maintenance across various systems and machinery to support smooth store operations.

Your technical expertise will directly enhance the shopping experience for thousands daily by identifying and resolving maintenance issues efficiently, while ensuring safety, adherence to standards, and quality throughout.

Key Responsibilities

• Effectively coordinate with external contractors to ensure seamless repair management.
• Collaborate well with fellow team members, upholding superior service quality.
• Maintain high levels of energy and efficiency while managing multiple tasks.
• Support management in keeping store equipment and facilities operating without interruption.
• Arrange maintenance tasks to minimize disruptions to customer experience.
• Ensure all Tesco sites are safe and fully functional environments.
• Adhere to planned maintenance schedules aiming for first-time fixes to boost efficiency.
• Share knowledge and best practices with the maintenance team.
• Handle routine store and property upkeep and repairs.
• Utilize mobile technology such as phones and tablets for scheduling and reporting work progress.

• Participate in local and national meetings to provide insights and feedback.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in maintenance, engineering, or construction environments is essential.
• Confidence in using tablets for digital workflows including viewing schedules and handling emails.
• Operational qualifications such as ONC or equivalent.
• Possession of a full valid driving license.
• A strong awareness of health and safety standards.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
• Completion of all relevant technical training and upskilling modules appropriate to the role.
