Job description
Role Overview
Serving as the representative of Tesco on the road, Customer Delivery Drivers visit customers at their homes daily. This position involves more than just driving; it's about delivering excellent service with a friendly attitude. The role is hands-on, physically engaging, and highly varied with each shift offering new challenges. You will mostly work independently but have a supportive network of managers and colleagues available at the base.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep your delivery van, trays, and workspace neat, organized, and clean to ensure customers receive their groceries in perfect condition.
- Safely load the van and carry out all necessary checks to confirm it is roadworthy and reliable for deliveries.
- Communicate courteously with customers about any order changes, substitutions, or items nearing expiry, offering refunds when appropriate to maintain a smooth, positive experience.
- Handle products carefully, treating each order as if it were your own to uphold quality and build customer trust.
- Deliver orders within the assigned time slots, providing a warm and natural greeting at the doorstep to make customers feel valued and well cared for.
Candidate Requirements
- Establish strong relationships with colleagues to foster a positive team spirit and deliver top service to customers.
- Exhibit warmth and friendliness towards customers and team members alike.
- Adapt promptly to changing customer needs and comfortably embrace change both on the road and at the store.
- Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving license (manual or automatic) held for at least 12 months, with no more than 3 penalty points.
