Customer Delivery Driver

About the Role

Join a retailer with over 150 years serving communities, delivering customers' online grocery orders directly to their homes. As a Customer Delivery Driver, you will embody warmth and energy, ensuring every delivery meets our commitment to excellent service.

Key Duties

• Represent the company positively at customers' homes, providing a caring and helpful delivery experience.
• Operate a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van to transport groceries punctually and in excellent condition.
• Conduct thorough vehicle checks for cleanliness, roadworthiness, and secure loading prior to departure.
• Follow designated delivery routes safely in diverse traffic, weather, and road conditions.
• Handle physical tasks including moving containers up to 15kg and delivering shopping to various property types, which may involve navigating steps, lifts, or long walks.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding delays, inquiries, or order changes.
• Assist in general store duties when not on delivery rounds.

Candidate Profile

• Friendly, welcoming personality with a passion for superior customer service and creating a positive doorstep experience.
• Confidence driving larger vehicles safely through a range of environments such as residential streets, city centers, and rural lanes.
• Physically capable and comfortable working in fast-paced environments requiring repetitive lifting and moving of goods up to 15kg.
• Uses sound judgment and initiative to solve problems and make safe decisions while on the road.
• Thrives both working independently and collaboratively within the store team.
• Flexible and ready to take on various store tasks and new challenges.
• Willingness to learn new skills, including operating route and delivery technologies.

Pre-application Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Hold a full UK/EU driving licence for a minimum of 12 months with no more than six penalty points.
• Pass an online driving risk assessment as part of the interview, followed by a driving assessment upon joining.
• Have legal right to work in the UK.
• Comply with safety measures including use of in-cab AI cameras monitoring driving behavior to ensure compliance with road and defensive driving standards.
