About the Role
Southern University at New Orleans (a public, historically black university) is committed to supporting the advancement of diverse populations through education, research, and service. This Custodian role is key in ensuring that the campus environment remains clean, safe, and orderly for students, staff, and visitors. The position involves routine janitorial tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing, and general upkeep of campus facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain sanitation and cleanliness in assigned areas such as restrooms, offices, and communal spaces by performing sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
- Relocate and dust furniture and fixtures as needed.
- Notify senior custodial staff of repair requirements.
- Clean blinds, windows, and walls regularly.
- Handle additional duties like trash collection and plant watering.
Qualifications
No prior experience or specialized training is required to qualify for this position.
Additional Information
This is a probationary appointment with a work schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The annual salary is $20,800. Civil Service test scores are not necessary to apply.
