About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Cost Engineer to join our expanding Life Sciences projects team. This role is vital in ensuring clear financial oversight, budget management, and commercial discipline throughout complex engineering projects within pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, medical devices, and research facilities.
Key Duties
- Prepare, update, and control cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts across all project stages.
- Monitor actual expenditures against budgets, analyze differences, and suggest corrective measures.
- Maintain project cost control systems with a focus on data accuracy and traceability.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, planners, procurement, engineering, and construction personnel to align costs with project scope and timelines.
- Participate in change management processes including evaluating cost impacts, analyzing trends, and assessing change orders.
- Support risk management by identifying cost risks, opportunities, and developing mitigation approaches.
- Generate and present regular cost reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators to stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to company project controls procedures, client expectations, and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to project audits, reviews, and financial governance activities.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to drive cost savings and value engineering initiatives.
- Assist in refining and enhancing cost engineering tools, methods, and best practices.
- Promote a transparent, accountable culture focused on proactive problem-solving.
Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in cost engineering or project controls, ideally within Life Sciences sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or advanced manufacturing.
- Comprehensive knowledge of capital project lifecycles, estimation techniques, and cost control methodologies.
- Proficiency with cost management software including EcoSys, Prism, SAP, and Excel.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, technically advanced project environment.
Additional Details
The successful applicant will be required to work on-site in Limerick three days per week, embracing a hybrid work model that balances remote and office-based work. Minimum education
Bachelor's Degree
