Project Overview

Bechtel has extensive experience in complex airport projects for over 80 years, including significant roles in major airports in the GCC such as King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat. Currently, Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company is acting as project management consultant for the King Salman International Airport development in Riyadh, a state-of-the-art facility designed to handle 120 million travelers by 2030 and 185 million by 2050, alongside cargo capacities of up to 3.5 million tons by 2050. The project includes the construction of three terminals, including a low-cost carrier terminal and an iconic terminal, as well as a private aviation terminal.

Position Summary

The Cost Engineer (Finance) role supports financial-related tasks such as cost estimation, analysis, monitoring, and control to help manage budgets effectively. The position involves working closely with various financial and construction processes to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine cost estimating, analysis, and cost control tasks as assigned.
• Contribute to implementing cost monitoring and control standards, systems, and reports.
• Assist in budget allocation and cost control reporting for construction disciplines.
• Support preparation of cost data for proposals and contracts.
• Help develop quantity takeoffs for specific disciplines or specialties.
• Participate in development and modification of project cost codes and accounts.
• Support project trend analysis programs.
• Help apply unit rates for costs and labor hours to quantity takeoffs.
• Contribute to project accounting activities including cost tracking, ledger management, and sub-job financial control ensuring accuracy.
• Assist in monthly financial close, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting.
• Review and ensure client invoices comply with contract terms and documentation.
• Process and code vendor invoices accurately to align with project budgets.
• Monitor, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies in key accounts such as accruals, receivables, and unbilled costs promptly.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or international equivalent.
• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, or alternatively, 6 to 9 years in related roles.
• Experience in client representation or project/construction management roles is preferred.
• Proficient with industry software such as PC Works, Primavera, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting systems, project controls, and controller account codes.
• Intermediate knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup processes.
• Familiarity with project accounting elements, including job costing, commitments, month-end close, billing, and accounts payable procedures.
• Prior work experience in the Middle East preferred.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
• Skilled in analyzing financial data and resolving discrepancies.
