Job description
Role Overview
As a Cook with Compass Group Canada, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food while strictly adhering to corporate standards, policies, and safety regulations. Your role ensures consistent delivery of quality food service.
Key Duties
- Prepare, pre-cook, and cook food items as instructed.
- Set up "mise en place" including foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, and utensils needed for high volume production.
- Clean kitchen equipment post-use according to safety and health policies.
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food and beverage items in designated storage areas.
- Maintain effective communication with various operational departments.
- Immediately report maintenance needs, equipment issues, or accidents to supervision.
- Perform additional assigned tasks as required.
Candidate Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a cook, preferably within a restaurant or prep cook environment.
- Mandatory Food Safety Certification.
- Completion of an accredited cooking school certificate.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and procedures.
- Ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
- Familiarity with industry-standard best practices.
- Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Physical capacity to fulfill job responsibilities.
