Heavy Duty Cleaner

Role Overview

As a Heavy Duty Cleaner, your primary responsibility will be performing intensive cleaning tasks including maintaining all types of hard floor surfaces, accessing elevated areas using ladders or scaffolding, and managing waste disposal effectively by transporting garbage to appropriate receptacles.

Key Duties

• Perform dry mopping, wet mopping (washing and scrubbing), and polishing of hard surface floors using handheld or walk-behind buffing machines.
• Manually or mechanically strip and refinish hard surface floors when necessary.
• Move garbage from collection points to bins or compactors, operate compactors, and ensure regular cleaning of compactor machinery.
• Transport maintenance equipment between floors and various job sites as required.
• Clean glass surfaces that require ladder or scaffolding access.
• Maintain cleanliness of washroom floors, including washing, stripping, and finishing activities.
• Clean stairwells and elevator interiors that require ladder use.
• Wash walls and ceilings; dust ceiling light fixtures and fans.
• Use pile lifting equipment to rejuvenate specific carpet types.
• Shampoo broadloom carpets and utilize extraction equipment for carpet cleaning.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations as well as organizational policies.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience in cleaning or housekeeping roles is essential.
• Strong ability to understand and communicate detailed instructions both verbally and in writing.
• Capability to juggle multiple tasks and set priorities effectively.
• Highly self-motivated and able to perform duties independently.
• Exceptional attention to detail paired with excellent time management skills.
• Competency in handling various cleaning equipment.
• Physically fit to undertake the demands of the position.
