Job description
Position Overview
The Cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients by portioning, chopping, and storing food, washing and peeling fresh produce, and weighing and mixing ingredients. The role involves preparing and cooking food following recipes, quality, and presentation standards and maintaining a food preparation checklist. Tasks include preparing cold dishes, operating kitchen appliances such as ovens, grills, microwaves, and fryers, and testing food for doneness.
Key Duties
- Maintain food quality during preparation and serve food in correct portions with appropriate presentation.
- Setup and dismantle the work station each shift.
- Clean and disinfect kitchen surfaces, utensils, knives, and equipment regularly.
- Verify the proper temperatures of appliances and food to ensure safety and quality standards.
- Adhere to all company safety and security procedures, report any maintenance requirements, accidents, injuries, or hazardous conditions to management, and complete necessary safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance and uphold confidentiality of proprietary information, while protecting company assets.
- Communicate clearly and professionally and foster positive relationships with colleagues to support team objectives.
- Be physically capable of standing, sitting, or walking for long periods; perform movements such as bending, twisting, and lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds without help.
- Carry out additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
- Minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- At least one year of experience in a related cooking role is required.
- No prior supervisory experience is necessary.
- No specific licenses or certifications are mandatory.
