Construction Estimator

Role Overview

We are looking for a meticulous and analytical Construction Estimator passionate about the building industry to join our team. Collaborating closely with the Senior Estimator, the successful candidate will prepare comprehensive and precise cost projections for a variety of commercial construction projects. Candidates should have a solid background in building, with extensive expertise in refurbishment and commercial construction across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost evaluations covering materials, subcontractors, labor, and preliminary expenses based on tenders, drawings, and client requirements.
• Interpret and analyze technical drawings and specifications thoroughly.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal design and production teams.
• Ensure tender submissions are cost-efficient and conform to budgetary constraints.
• Evaluate site constraints including terrain levels, drainage, access, and existing services.
• Perform comprehensive analysis of project specs and drawings to identify all necessary components for accurate estimates.
• Conduct site inspections as necessary to verify project conditions and assist in tender preparation.
• Keep estimating tools, pricing databases, and cost records systematically updated to enhance precision and efficiency in future bids.
• Aid in preparing tender proposals and submissions as needed.
• Identify, assess, and manage quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to guarantee competitiveness and compliance.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years proven experience in an estimating capacity.
• Strong grasp of cost estimating theories and best practices.
• Exceptional analytical aptitude and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all cost estimations.
• Proficiency in dedicated estimating software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, both verbal and written, to maintain clear exchanges with colleagues and clients.
• Experience estimating construction projects with budgets up to £5 million.
• HND or an equivalent qualification in surveying or a construction-related field.
• Possession of a valid full driving license with readiness to travel as required.

This position is based onsite in Corby, England, and involves collaboration with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure bids remain competitive and technically sound.
