Job description
Overview
A specialist engineering company is seeking a skilled CNC Turner experienced in programming, setting, operating, and inspecting precision components within a proficient workshop environment. This position offers an opportunity to work on technically diverse tasks, crafting high-quality, finely tuned machined parts.
Key Duties
- Manage the entire machining cycle including programming, setting, running, and inspecting parts.
- Operate 3-axis CNC lathes fitted with live tooling to produce single or small batch components to stringent standards.
- Create programs both online and offline utilizing FANUC control systems.
- Analyze detailed engineering blueprints and technical specifications.
- Determine appropriate tooling, work holding setups, as well as optimal speeds and feeds.
- Set tool positions, offsets, and coordinate systems.
- Ensure components meet tight tolerances and premium finish quality.
- Inspect final products using precision measurement instruments.
- Adjust programming and tooling configurations as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Work with materials such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of machines and tools.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and workshop teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant has substantial practical experience as a CNC Turner with programming, setting, and operating proficiency, particularly with CNC turning and precision machining.
Essential Qualifications
- Hands-on CNC turning experience.
- Proficiency with 3-axis lathes including live tooling operation.
- Strong competence in FANUC programming both online and offline.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings accurately.
- Experience working to exacting engineering tolerances.
- Deep knowledge of tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds.
- Skilled in using precision measuring devices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and dedication to high-quality output.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SolidWorks CAD software.
- Familiarity with CAMWorks or Fusion CAD/CAM software.
- Background in sectors like automotive, motorsport, aerospace, or specialized engineering.
- Experience in producing low volume but high-value manufactured items.
- Relevant technical qualifications such as an engineering apprenticeship.

Additional Information
Working hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. The role is based onsite in Waterlooville, England. The annual salary range for this position is £40,000 to £45,000.
