Job Overview
This role focuses on creating and refining CNC machining programs by interpreting engineering drawings while handling the entire machining process from programming to production operation.
Primary Duties
- Design, modify, and improve CNC machining codes based on detailed engineering specifications.
- Generate and apply G-code and M-code for CNC machine operation.
- Set up CNC machines and manage initial production runs for validation.
- Interpret 2D technical drawings with GD&T symbols, tolerances, and machining needs.
- Select appropriate tooling, including cutting tools and inserts, and determine correct speeds and feeds.
- Perform precise tool settings and offset adjustments for machining accuracy.
- Operate CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and Siemens.
- Enhance CNC programs to minimize tooling wear and reduce cycle time.
- Diagnose and correct issues related to programming and machining processes.
- Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Collaborate with Production and Quality departments to ensure product standards and targets are met.
Qualifications and Skills
- In-depth understanding of CNC programming concepts and machining methodologies.
- Proficiency in using G-code and M-code for CNC operations.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings with tolerances.
- Familiarity with tooling choices, cutting parameters, and various machining techniques.
- Preferable experience with CNC turning and Vertical Machining Center (VMC) operations.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude for troubleshooting machining challenges.
