About the Role
We are seeking a proficient Construction Estimator to join a vibrant team dedicated to transforming how buildings are designed and constructed within an innovative framework known as Design Manufacture Construct (DMC). This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a diverse group of architects, engineers, designers, and manufacturers committed to enhancing construction efficiency and quality through modern methods.
Key Duties
- Examine construction blueprints, specifications, and project documentation to develop accurate and detailed cost projections.
- Perform quantity take-offs and analyze material and labor expenses to establish precise unit pricing aligned with project scopes.
- Manage the bidding process by preparing offers, engaging with clients’ questions, and revising estimates when project parameters change.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to request bids, evaluate proposals, and negotiate competitive pricing, ensuring budget adherence.
- Assess potential project risks from factors such as site conditions, labor availability, and material supply uncertainties to mitigate cost impacts.
- Maintain thorough project records, including bid submissions, cost analyses, and historical data for use in future projects.
- Collaborate closely with project leadership and clients to align cost estimates with overall project goals and budget constraints.
- Keep informed on construction industry trends, material costs, and labor market developments to maintain competitive and accurate estimates.
- Support cost tracking and budgeting efforts during construction phases to maintain financial control.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline; equivalent experience is also considered.
- Minimum of five years professional experience in construction estimating, particularly for commercial projects.
- Demonstrated success in generating cost estimates for various construction sectors including commercial or infrastructure projects.
Skills and Competencies
- Fluency with estimating software such as ProEst, Bluebeam, or PlanSwift.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Project.
- Analytical acumen and strong mathematical capability with exceptional attention to detail.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications accurately.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction materials, techniques, and current labor market factors.
