Position Overview

This role involves preparing cooking ingredients such as portioning, chopping, and storing food items. Responsibilities include washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables, accurately weighing and mixing ingredients, and following recipes and quality standards for food preparation. Candidates will prepare both hot and cold dishes and operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. They will also test dishes for doneness, monitor quality throughout preparation, set up and break down work stations, and appropriately portion and serve foods.

Work Environment and Safety

Maintaining cleanliness by washing and disinfecting kitchen tools and surfaces is essential. Monitoring appliance and food temperatures for safety and quality is required. Employees must adhere to all company safety policies, promptly report any maintenance or safety issues, complete required safety training, and maintain a clean and professional appearance. Confidentiality of proprietary information and protection of company assets is important. Effective, professional communication and positive teamwork to achieve common goals are emphasized.

Physical Requirements

The job requires standing, sitting, or walking for long periods during shifts, with physical movements including reaching overhead or below the knees, bending, twisting, and lifting objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• A minimum of one year of relevant culinary or food preparation experience is desired.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No licenses or certifications are necessary.
