Job description
Position Summary
The role involves preparing special meals and substitute dishes, controlling oven, broiler, grill, and roaster temperatures, and handling food thawing procedures. Responsibilities include ensuring correct portioning, presentation, and garnish of food, maintaining food logs, monitoring food quality and quantity, and communicating needs during peak times. The individual will notify chefs regarding surplus food for specials, inform service staff about menu changes or stock issues, prepare and cook food according to recipes and standards, and handle cold food preparations.
Additional Duties
This position supports management by assisting in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching team members while serving as a role model. Company policies regarding safety and security must be followed, including reporting maintenance requirements, accidents, unsafe conditions, and completing mandated safety training. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance and upholding confidentiality and company asset protection are essential. The role demands anticipating and addressing guest needs, communicating professionally, fostering positive team relationships, supporting collaborative goals, and responding appropriately to colleagues' concerns. Physical tasks include prolonged standing, sitting or walking, reaching overhead and below knees, bending, twisting, and handling objects up to 25 pounds unaided. Other tasks may be assigned by supervisors as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical, trade, or vocational school degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
- No supervisory experience required.
- No specific license or certification necessary.
