Commis - Bakery

Position Overview

The Commis - Bakery at Marriott International in Panaji, Goa, is responsible for preparing ingredients, following recipes, and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation. The role involves food preparation tasks such as portioning, chopping, washing, peeling fresh produce, measuring, mixing ingredients, and cooking using various kitchen appliances including ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. The commis will also prepare cold dishes, test food for doneness, and ensure consistent quality by monitoring the cooking process.

Workstation and Cleanliness

Setting up and breaking down the work station is a key part of the job. The commis must wash and sanitize kitchen spaces, tables, utensils, tools, knives, and appliances regularly. They are responsible for verifying appliance and food temperatures are within proper standards.

Compliance and Safety

The role requires adherence to all company policies, safety, and security guidelines. The employee must report any maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to the manager and complete any required safety training and certifications. A professional personal appearance and confidentiality with proprietary company information are mandatory.

Teamwork and Communication

Clear and professional communication is necessary. The commis should foster positive relationships with colleagues, support team objectives, and respond appropriately to coworkers' concerns.

Physical Requirements

The position involves standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods or an entire shift, as well as physical movements such as bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, reaching overhead and below knees. It includes lifting, moving, pushing, or pulling items weighing up to 25 pounds independently.

Additional Responsibilities

Other reasonable duties may be assigned by supervisors as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
• At least one year of relevant work experience
• No supervisory experience required
• No specific licenses or certifications mandated
