About the Role

Our client, a well-established global FMCG company with a portfolio of prominent consumer brands spanning various international markets, is seeking a seasoned Commercial Analyst for their New Zealand team. This pivotal role bridges Finance and Sales, delivering insightful commercial analysis that moves beyond mere number reporting to influence strategic decisions supporting business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Sales leadership across Retail and On-Premise channels to deliver actionable commercial insights.
  • Manage forecasting, budgeting, S&OP contributions, and periodic performance reporting.
  • Evaluate promotional expenditure, pricing strategies, sales volume, margins, and return on investment to facilitate enhanced commercial decisions.
  • Interpret financial and operational datasets to provide valuable recommendations to the broader business.
  • Participate in customer review processes and contribute substantially to commercial and business planning initiatives.
  • Identify and implement improvements in reporting, system processes, and operational methods.
  • Offer financial challenge and support to drive profitable growth.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or CPA qualification.
  • Preferably experienced in FMCG, retail, consumer goods, or beverage industries.
  • Strong commercial insight encompassing pricing, promotions, margin analysis, forecasting, and tracking performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence senior stakeholders outside finance.
  • Adept at simplifying complex data into clear commercial advice.
  • Ability to manage hands-on tasks while pursuing continuous improvements.
  • Pragmatic, proactive mindset thriving in dynamic commercial settings.
