This position is based at Dukes The Palm Dubai Hotel in Dubai, UAE.

Role Overview

The Cluster Chief Engineer will oversee and guide all engineering and maintenance activities for two hotel properties. The role ensures all building systems, equipment, and facilities are maintained with the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and brand compliance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise engineering operations and staff across the two hotels.
• Oversee effective preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, Building Management Systems (BMS), fire and life safety systems, and hotel equipment.
• Perform frequent property inspections to promptly identify and resolve maintenance concerns.
• Develop and enforce preventive maintenance schedules and asset replacement plans.
• Ensure adherence to all UAE, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defence regulations, as well as internal health, safety, and company standards.
• Manage engineering budgets, operating expenses, capital expenditures, contracts, and annual maintenance agreements.
• Lead initiatives in energy conservation and sustainability to optimize utility consumption such as electricity and water.
• Coordinate renovations, refurbishments, technical projects, and manage contractors and suppliers efficiently.
• Handle technical emergencies and equipment failures promptly minimizing disruption to operations.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop the engineering team promoting a culture of safety and high performance.
• Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure engineering services enhance guest satisfaction and operational excellence.

Candidate Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
• At least 8 to 10 years of engineering experience, preferably in luxury or upscale hospitality environments.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years in senior engineering leadership roles such as Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering.
• Experience managing multi-property or cluster engineering operations is advantageous.
• Strong technical expertise in MEP, HVAC, BMS, fire/life safety systems, preventive maintenance, and overall building operations.
• Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards in UAE/Dubai.
• Proven experience in budgeting, capital project management, energy management, and contractor oversight.
• Excellent leadership, analytical problem-solving, communication, and organizational capabilities.
• Fluent command of English is required.
