Your Role
Based in Cork, Ireland, as a Cloud Applications Developer, your responsibility will be to design, run, and enhance the observability and monitoring systems across hybrid cloud environments. You'll ensure the reliability of platforms, maintain superior alert systems, manage log and metrics pipelines, and collaborate closely with the Network Operations Center (NOC), adhering strictly to ITIL processes such as Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementing, configuring, and managing monitoring and alerting platforms including Operations Bridge Manager (OBM), Network Node Manager (NNMi), Zabbix, Prometheus, and Graylog.
- Establishing and sustaining Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) alongside alerting standards.
- Creating dashboards and comprehensive service health visualizations.
- Coordinating with the NOC to ensure effective alert routing and escalation workflows.
- Supporting critical production environments through Tier3 support and engaging in post-incident analyses.
- Deploying, updating, and overseeing observability tools within Linux and Kubernetes (Open-source/GKE/EKS) setups.
- Automating monitoring processes using Python, Bash scripting, Terraform, and Ansible.
- Maintaining robust log and metrics data pipelines.
- Integrating monitoring tools with IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions for incident handling, change management, and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) processes.
- Upholding ITIL best practices and thorough documentation maintenance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related area.
- Over two years of pertinent industry experience.
- Solid grasp of System Administration, Hybrid Applications, Monitoring principles, and ITIL framework.
- Proficient in deploying and managing observability, monitoring, log aggregation, and automation tools.
- Hands-on experience with Zabbix, OBM, NNMi, Graylog, and Ansible.
- Fundamental Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts including SLIs/SLOs, incident response, and postmortem procedures.
- Expertise in Linux administration and Kubernetes environments.
- Skilled in scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible, plus proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and GitLab.
- Understanding of networking basics like TCP/IP, SNMP, DNS, Syslog, and APIs.
- Familiarity with observability solutions such as NewRelic and Dynatrace.
- Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning principles.
- Capability to utilize Large Language Model (LLM)-based tools for troubleshooting, documentation, and creative automation.
- Desirable skills include experience with OpenTelemetry, OpsBridge Aviator, SMAX integrations, AIOps technologies, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Grafana visualization tools, cloud monitoring in AWS/GCP/Azure, security operations, Kafka/AMQP messaging pipelines, and programming in Go or Java.
